Fall Festivities!

Geoff and I both had today off, which barely ever happens, so we decided to take advantage of it and pack a whole bunch into today.

Today started with us having breakfast with our friend Molly at Pine State Biscuits in Portland. If you don't know what that is you can go Here. or here

Then we went to the Portland Nursery for the annual apple festival. Yummy apple tasting.....all for free!

Here's the deal: About 100 different types (breeds? species?) or apples, all for your perusal)

Once you've tasted ALL of them, find the ones you want and buy by the pound

After the apple festival we met up with our other friends Megan and Jessica for some fun at the Roloff Farms Pumpkin Patch! (for those not in the know, The Roloffs are the stars of Little People Big World, about 5 minutes away)

Pumpkin picking is serious business
Serious...

...serious....

...business.
After picking our pumpkins we went to dinner at Helvetia Tavern right next to Roloff Farms. After being sufficiently fueled we went home to carve them up!

Pumpkin guts are not the most fun thing to stick your hand in
Pumpkin carving can't be complete without sugar cookies (the ghost ones are clearly the most delicious)

Jessica had apparently NEVER carved a pumpkin before.

So we forced her to do it.
Jessica's finished product (sorry it's kinda blurry, I think it adds to the spookiness! haha)
Megan's "Mr. Mewokins" Pumpkin

Geoff's cloaked Batman (done by hand might I add which is significantly harder)

My Witch.....or is it a Moon??? lol, wait, it's both!

All in all a pretty awesome day and a great way to get in the Halloween spirit! I'm exhausted now, as it has been an incredibly jam packed day but totally worth it.

Vacation 2: Electric Boogaloo

After five days in Central Oregon we're back (obviously, if you read yesterday's post about Roxy). It's a sort of tradition my family has to go to Black Butte Ranch in Sisters for a few days. There's a lot of sitting, watching cable and relaxing going on. We took a lot of photos, but I'll sum up the week this way.

Thursday:
Internet meet Billy, my parent's dog. Billy, meet the Internet.

Friday:
My parents go on a LOT of walks when they're in Black Butte. This is my dad taking a photo of Mt. Jefferson

Saturday:
Also a big part of Black Butte: fishing. Nobody ever catches anything, but they try anyway.

Sunday:
Sunday was our last day at Black Butte, then Katie and I headed to Sunriver for a couple of days (or so we thought)

Monday:
We were there really just for the night and then Monday, but we did manage to get a fun bike ride in.

Tuesday we woke up and headed back to rescue Roxy after her surgery. We heard she was going in the day before, and we decided to head back up a day early to pick her up and take her home.

There were a bunch more photos to show off. You saw Katie's photo already (I hope). Here are a couple more:

Yay! Macro filters!

TONS of deer around that area. On our last day from our house to the main gate we saw 10!

BEST. SIGN. EVER.

Vacation: Part One

Geoff and I have had the opportunity to spend some time together on vacation and it has been wonderful!

We spent 3 days in Black Butte and a couple of days in Sunriver. It has been gorgeous and there will be more pictures to come, but for now while I'm on a borrowed internet connection I'll leave you with this amazing view we had from the window of the house we are staying at in Sunriver.

(Thanks John and Jenny for the use of your house!)

Mt. Bachelor and the amazing sunset we had!

I would like to point out that what you are seeing is un-edited colors. It is just naturally that beautiful!
