12/52 'Feets' of strength

"Katie, what should I say in our blogpost?"

"What?"

"About the picture for today? Of the feet?
I'm just gonna write down everything we say.
                                                Starting now."

" . . . "

(scowls)

(shakes head)

"Stop."

"Geoff, don't.."

"Don't. You're being annoying.."

"No, seriously, what do you want to say?"

" . . . "

"I have blue toes."

11/52 Son of a beach.

As you read the other day, Katie and I went to the beach last week, for some saltwater taffy goodness. It was a fun day, and Katie and I took turns taking slightly embarrassing photos of each other.

And, because I'm a cruel person, I'm sharing them with the world.

I actually dig this week's 52 Weeks submission. It's different, it's quirky, it makes us look like crazy people....

I like it.

10/52 On pencilfish, mollies and pearl gouramis

In case you couldn't tell by the picture, we bought a fish tank.

There's something about fish that I find incredibly calming.

Fish tanks and Pursingers just sort of go together. Growing up, having a fish tank (or two) were as common in a room as a TV (in fact, I had a fish tank in my room loooong before I ever had my own television.)

As such I have an impressive amount of information about zebra danios, neon tetras and tiger barbs swimming around in my brain.

(20 points if you recognized any of those names without clicking the links.)

I haven't had any fish since Katie and I got married, until a few months ago.

For Christmas this year my sister bought me a fish tank for my office. It was tiny, only a few gallons, but it was the perfect size for work.

It even had a little castle!
The small little fish I had were a nice quiet edition to my crazy workplace. Fish don't have problems, they don't have bad days. They just swim, and enjoy themselves, and thank you when you pour a few flakes in the bowl.

But when I came to work last week they did had a problem. A fairly major one:

All the water had drained from their fish tank.

Cleaning crews had discovered over the weekend that my tank had a leak in it, and that water was pouring all over my desk. We managed to save the fish before the entire tank was dry, and I carried them home on my lap in a bucket with no place to put them.

But after a quick conversation with The Misses we were off to buy a new tank.

And voilà:

But we had a problem. I had myself a big-boy 10 gallon aquarium. But I still had my teeny-tiny little castle and teeny-tiny little fish.

There was only one thing to do.

TO THE FISH STORE!!!
Now our tank is home to a smattering of little swimmers.

    There's B.A. Baracus

 Cory Feldman

    Bert

 Ernie

The Fantastic Four (yes, there are only three here)

And, my personal favorite...

Bobby Brown.

They seem pretty happy. Their tank is bigger, cleaner and not leaking. All are improvements over their previous home, and their new roommates seem to be adjusting.

B.A. has taken the "Katie's favorite fish" award. Impressive, considering she doesn't like fish and wasn't too crazy when I said "oh hey, honey, want to go run an errand with me?"

BAM! Fish store.

9/52 "Paper or Plastic?"

See, here's the thing. This is our ninth photo in our 52 Weeks project.

But if we had taken a photo a week like we were supposed to, we'd be on photo #14.

...Actually, that's not nearly as bad as I was expecting.

Good for us!

Today was a boring "get stuff done" kind of day. We cleaned house, we did the laundry,

we went to the store...

Our blog: the home of really exciting stuff.
What could next week's picture hold? Perhaps we'll do something crazy, like watch paint dry or make a sandwich.

Find out on the next exciting episode of....

8/52 "'Hakuna matata"

Before I even write a single sentence I have to say thanks to my brosef Branden Pursinger for taking this photo.

Happy berfday to you.
This week was my sister's 20th birthday (she's the one in the middle, in case you didn't know). As per usual on my sister's birthday we took a trip to my old work the Oregon Zoo.

Of course, being Oregon in March is poured down rain for the entire time were were there, but we managed to snap a few photos.

For those of you not familiar with the Oregon Zoo experience the three of us are hiding out in the African Savannah exhibit, and this is pretty much the only time in the zoo's history that there haven't been 400 second graders crammed into this little bubble-thing.

Oh, what's that you say? You want MOOOORE photos from previous zoo experiences?

Well:

We've got a bunch of stuff to post to the blog over the next few days, so shut up already about how irregularly we post. I'll post, like, 8 things this week to make up for it. Promise.

Maybe.

7/52 "'It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine"

It's time once again for our 52 Weeks Project.

Thought we'd forgotten about it, didn't you?

Yes, I know. We're horrible at remembering. We're busy people.

This week brought a late-February snowstorm to Portland, and I woke up to go to work to a nice white blanket of snow, on Thursday.

I still had to get to work, but needless to say I drug Katie out of bed, forced her to put on boots and told her we had to take a darn photo!

Of course, I should have expected what happened when I got Katie outside.
Katie? Katie why are you making a snowball...

Oh, no you don't. I've got to go to work in 10 minutes and we don't have a lot of time. Put that down.
I mean it. Don't do it.

NNNNooooooooo!!!!

(snowball flies to the left, misses me and the camera)

HAHA! You missed!

"Aww MAN!"

By the time I got home from work the snow was mostly gone, so I didn't get the chance to inact my revenge. But it's coming. Oh. It's coming.

Happy almost March.

6/52 "'All your photos are belong to us"

Katie's back from doing inventory which means that (unlike last week) we actually get to see each other for more than 10 minutes without one of us passing out from exhaustion.

We were out babysitting the nieces tonight, which is always an adventure. After they went to bed it was time to bust out the Wii and start some Donkey Kong Country.

Time to spend some good old fashioned quality time together:

"Come on, jump there"

                                                           "Where?"
"There."

                                                            "Jump where?"

"Right there,
Where all those bananas are."

                                                             "Oh, okay."

(jumps)

(dies.)

(GAME OVER)

"sigh."

Like most 2 player games I think we spent most of the time accidentally killing each other instead of  completing our objectives, but it was fun to spend time together.

You'd think that were, like, married or something.

 Huh.

5/52 "♫ Power Ballad ♫"

I know, I know. We're late putting this one up... like... a whole week late. But Katie was really (really) sick for a few days and then she started inventory at work --- meaning that she starts at 4 a.m. and falls asleep by about 5:30 p.m., and with me not getting home until well past 9:30 some nights there just hasn't been much time for picture taking.

Eventually, though, I just got bored and took one myself.

It's pretty much how we've been all week. Her working and sleeping, me working and sleeping. So NEXT photo will be back to normal, but for now just think of me as Celine Dion.

4/52 Game Faces

For those of you who know us, you know we can be kinda ridiculous at times.....well, let me rephrase that, Geoff can be kinda ridiculous.

I was trying to take a nice picture and this is what I have to deal with.......
Yes, Geoff is wearing a hockey jersey with the Canadian flag on it. TRAITOR.
Granted, this isn't my favorite photo of myself since I was trying to take the picture and get us both in frame, so I have kinda a weird expression, but it was just too good not to post. haha :D

We were given tickets to the Winterhawks game from Geoff's aunt Judi for Christmas and had a blast.

(Also, before I forget, THANKS JUDI!)

Geoff has a bit of a head cold (if you ask him he's dying) but we couldn't turn down the game. We had awesome seats --- practically right on the ice --- the Hawks won in overtime, and we got to enjoy getting out of the house. Yes, getting out of the house is a big thing for us. Don't make a big thing out of it.

Yes, this is very blurry. Geoff sucks.
Who knows what next week will bring. I'm co-hosting my sister Lori's baby shower so I'm sure there will be lots of photos from that. It will be pretty legendary (make sure you say "lengendary" like this)

Oh, and don't be disappointed when Geoff lies to you and say's we'll do a picture before the weekend because we all know that won't likely happen. Especially since Geoff and I barely see each other during the week, and when I do see him he's asleep.

What can I say, we keep the flame alive.

3/52 Sleepy Time Station

Week Three: CHECK.

This photo looks like it's easy to shoot. And in a way it is. But while shooting it last night Katie tried to hit the camera's delay button without getting up.

My camera has a delay setting so she could take a photo then run back and get in position before the photo was snapped.

Unfortunately, Katie didn't want to get up, so instead she stretched as far as she could to find the delay button.

Is it this one?

Nope.
How about THIS one?

Nope.
Wait, I've found it. How about this one...

Don't think so.
She did find it eventually.

Goodnight.

NEXT WEEK WE'LL DO A PHOTO BEFORE THE WEEKEND! I SWEAR IT!

2/52 Watching "Couch potatoes"

Week two of the 52 Weeks Project.

No big holidays

No crazy adventures.

Just lounging at home together --- which we seldom get to do because of conflicting work schedules.

Sometimes it's nice to just lay on the couch, watch some HBO and drive Katie's dog crazy.

1/52 Happy New Year!

So, as I wrote the other day, the K-Dizzle and I are working on a new project, a photo-a-week test to document the next 52 weeks (and 1 day) until 2012.

Having just finished my 365 project a few months ago, I expect this to be significantly less stressful, but just as fun and even more challenging.

And, as usual, after taking 20+ photos last night, the first one is by far the best.

(also, like I said, any suggestions for photos or tips and tricks on how to take better ones, let us know)

Okay, enough stalling. Let's do this.

I'm not crazy about this photo, but this week only had 1 day in it. So sue us.

It was a VERY memorable New Years Eve in Portland with a Winterhawks hockey game, then an unforgettable MAX ride home with crossdressers and drunk 14-year-old rednecks, followed by counting down the new year in an empty parking lot.

All of that requires it's own post, since it involves pics, several paragraphs of rambling and even a couple of videos. I'll see if I can get those posted tonight, but we're taking a last-minute drive down to Eugene for the rest of the weekend, so we'll see if I can steal some Internet on the way, or later tonight...

Also, here's some other photos that could have been our Day 1.

The more I look at this, the more this becomes my favorite of the three. But rules are rules and we both agreed on the other photo. I'll just have to deal.
